For many of you, this will be the first time you’ll be on your own. This will give you an opportunity to experience college life; learn how to be independent and responsible for yourself, as well as live with new people. This can be very rewarding, but you may also experience some homesickness, which is normal. You’ll have opportunities to speak or Skype with your friends and family which can help you get through feelings of homesickness, but we also encourage you to get out and meet your classmates and floormates! In the Residence Hall, you’ll meet students from your program, from other Tisch departments, as well as Pre-College students.
As a resident, you have support networks within the Residence Hall. Each floor will have Program Assistants (PAs) who are NYU college students and serve as your floor leader. Your PAs will organize floor events and gatherings, so there will be many opportunities for you to get to know the members of your floor. And whenever you have a question or issue, your PA is your first resource–never hesitate to reach out to your PA!
You’ll get the chance to meet a variety of people in the residence hall, your home away from home at NYU.
