A Typical Day

Students in Stonestreet, Experimental Theater Workshop, Meisner, Production and Design, and New Studio begin their days early with classes starting at their studios by 10am.

In the morning, depending on the studio, students will either be in voice or movement class, practicing audition techniques, learning how to act for the camera, focusing on drafting, painting, scenery/props and costume construction, electrics and sound. When the morning classes are over, students break for lunch and generally eat at the dining halls on campus.

In the afternoon, studio classes will resume until 5:30pm. Students will have a Theater in NY class weekly, where they can discuss with professional actors, directors, designers, stage managers, and faculty as guests issues raised by the experience of living as an actor and making theater in the city. Previous classes attended shows like Kinky Boots, Of Mice and MenCabaretEat the Chicken, Fun Home, and The Trip to Bountiful.  All students will experience evening workshops in the other studios in Drama, taught by faculty in those studios. Students in the Stonestreet Studio, Meisner Studio, and Production and Design Workshop will receive a 30-day unlimited MetroCard as their classes require them to use transportation to get to the studio. Students in New Studio on Broadway and Experimental Theater Workshop will receive a 16-ride MetroCard for program events and shows.
